The Price of the Phoenix by slashygirl The Price of the Phoenix by slashygirl
What a slashy book.
Denise is reading The Price of the Phoenix...and it's getting easier to read. It's true that a second reading or more helps a lot. Damn, this book is so slashy. Jim naked surrounded by candles and flowers. Spock has to meld with him. And later has to mark him in the meld. Jim was sleeping just before that, and Omne shows him sleeping, says it's Sleeping Beauty...and literally tells him in so many words to wake him with a kiss..........oh my lord..how did this get published..plus later the bad guy Omne tells Spock to check out the merchandise ...meaning Kirk...and finally..Spock says to Omne. Wrap him up, and I'll take him with me......lol....Love it...

I remember reading this book the first time when I was very young over 20 years ago, and found it so complicated. Now, at 45 I understand it much better, really enjoyed it. There is another book that follows, called The Fate of the Phoenix. It's good as well.

I agree that bantam didn't have the greatest books, but I re-read almost all of them, and I realize reading them now, at the age I'm at, it was like reading them for the first time.  I couldn't remember anything about them, so it was pretty exciting.

OMG! I recently bought this book! I'm off to finish Killing Time, but does that all happen in the book??? I bought this because of the cover :XD: didn't think it has anything slashy in it because it was never recalled like Killing Time, but so far, it sounds much more slashier than Killing Time :XD:!!! GAH! Wake him with a kiss? You have to tell me about this page here :squee: I'm spazzing

It's very slashy...and there is a sequel called The Fate of the Phoenix....but I must warn you...if English isn't your first language, it can get very confusing...hell, it's confusing even if you first language is English..you'll see when you start reading it...Let me know what you think..I read it when I was in my 20's...reading it again at 40...it's more understandable...but that is just me..

Perhaps, you'll have no problems...

Haha! My English writing skills on dA are just horrible, but it's because I'm always in a rush and never proof read! I'm actually a double major in English and Biochemsitry, haha, it's definitely my first language; just I'm very careless on dA :giggle: I hope I'll be able to understand, the synapses does sounds confusing though, but full of love!

And these scenes sound wonderful  I'm very excited after Killing Time!

I read that book and the sequel to it the "Fate of the Phoenix" and yes I know that they were not written with the intention of portraying them as anything more than friends but oh my I think with out even trying they so made it slashy...:XD: and I love both of the books and have read them both so many times. I was reading in your comments that Elfqueen 55 has left the site if that is true than that is beyond sad because she does such wonderful work. I see on her profile page that she is on live journal so I will have to go look her up over there. Sometimes people just plain SUCK for being so narrow minded but such is the world sadly.

I have both copies and bought them when they first came out. Wish I could access my copies but I live with my brother now and have little space for things so I have a storage unit where I have most of my things until I can get some help to get down there and go through it and the first thing I need to do is get all my Star Trek books out of there. I just checked on Amazon.com and you can find a copy of the Fate of the Phoenix over there. I know I saw a price of like $99 for a new copy wow talk about expensive. They do have cheaper copies though. :D

I do believe they meant .99 cents ..What you quoted couldn't possibly be right?

I have many star trek books...over 100 for sure.

As well as comic books..Gold Key, Marvel and DC..now I do believe they have changed to something else.

Interesting. I must read this now. Luckily my local library system has it... in central storage, but still available for checking out. I just put it on hold.

It is a very confusing story. So, I do hope it doesn't disappoint. I like it much better, now that I read it 20 years later.

If I can read H. Beam Piper books and get it, I'm sure this won't cause too many problems. Would have been a pain had I tried to read it 20 years ago, though, before I even knew of slash. LOL

It was never intended to be slashy, but somehow it comes off that way in spades. There is also a sequel called The Fate of the Phoenix. And remember the first one was written in 1977. It was before the movies. So, even though the reviews of this story were not all positive, I thought they did a damn good job.

Might not have intended to be slashy, but from what little I've heard.... It's certainly flavored that way. I intend to have a friend look at it too to see her reaction. Bwahahaha. Thanks on the tip to the sequal.

Okay, now I have to find a copy of this. Been looking through your 'photos' of them and I have to ask again, where does your friend get these fantastic photos? I'm wanting to draw a sexy scene of two of my main male homosexual couple, but the imagery just leaves me. For some crazy reason these manipulated photos of Kirk and Spock just spark my imagination. Who's the author of this book? Where did you find it?

The book The Price of the Phoenix was never intended as a slash book. The authors are Sondra Marshak and Myrna Culbreath. The book was published in 1977. This was even before the Motion Picture..of Star Trek.

The images you have seen in my gallery belong to Elfqueen 55. She was on deviant art but decided to leave because of trolls that lurked around and told her basically that her work was porn....and so forth...I have gotten it also, but I have stayed. They have removed a lot of my work and the only place I feel safe to post all of my work is on the Kirk/Spock archives..

The images she finds are from DA..of gay art..and other places other than Deviant Art.I will ask her specifically where she finds her images and send you a link.

See you later...

Found the book on Amazon. I'll have to read it. I told my friend Dave about this and he's read it. I told him about the 'picture slashes' and he's not phased. He finds it funny and fun. He's twisted that way too. Which btw, his middle name is Kang which is a Star Trek character. He can get into cons for free because of it. LOL

Yes, there is. But it isn't intended to be slash per se..but it certainly feels like the authors wanted to convey it in their story...I am quite surprised it got published.

Don't quote me but I do belive they used that image to show that Spock brought back a dead James Kirk. The story is very complicated, and not everyone will like it. Lots of dialogue that just is just there, that doesn't do anything for the story.

But slash wise it's a delight. You have Kirk naked, Spock melding with him, among candles and flowers, and later during the meld he has to mark him. WTF...I am shocked it got published...
